I'm going to be totally honest. This is not the kind of book that can help you. It's not a "how-to," "when-to," a "what-to-expect" book. It's not even endorsed by anyone remotely connected to the medical profession. (Although a cousin of mine who sells carpeting to doctors' offices not only found it "insightful" and "informative," but felt that, "if properly vacuumed, it should last a lifetime.")

"A fine endorsement," you say. "But if I have only one book to buy, shouldn't I go for the helpful one?"

Let's compare:
Those "know-it-all" books tell you how to have a happy, healthy pregnancy.
My book mentions a squirrel.
Those books tell you how to care for a newborn child.
My book describes how tired I am.
Those books give you essential information you can use in a life-threatening emergency.
My book has some very amusing anecdotes about poop.

So really, it's up to you. If you want to be prepared and well-informed, I understand. But if you enjoy seeing the words "pterodactyl" and "uterus" in the same book, you've come to the right place.

 Not just for Dads....
This is such a funny, funny book that is not just for dads. His humor is contagious and you feel the love for his baby and wife while laughing hysterically! Being a parent can be so funny and he reminds us to see the humor in our everyday life. A must read for anyone thinking about having a baby, or anyone who has them already.

 fuuny! You can really relate!
You can really relate to this book if you've just had a baby and been pregnant. It feels comforting to hear all your own feelings were felt by someone else. And because it's a lighthearted, funny book, it's easy to read. I had a great time reading this book! Give it as a baby shower gift! It's so much better than reading scary pregnancy books.

 Here Comes Baby
Any man or woman scared of impending parenthood should read this book. Makes a great first Father's Day gift too.

Laugh Out Loud Funny Every Time
I've read this book a dozen times and every time I laugh out loud. I buy it for all my friends as soon as a due date is announced. Whether Paul Reiser is writing about baby names, cloth vs. disposable diapers, or going out on his own with the baby for the first time, it's all funny. Yes, the book is a few years old, but it is still my favorite parenting book.

 Great gift for new dads
I happen to love Paul Reiser. I think he's hilarious! I really enjoyed this book and I don't even have kids. If you would like to get a Father's Day gift for a new dad or if you happen to know a man who's about to become a dad then I would definitely recommend purchasing the AUDIOBOOK version of this. Most men don't have the patience to read so I could see them enjoying the effortless listening aspect of the audio version. I read the print version and I really liked it. Paul talks about the decision to have a child and the whole pregnancy journey from the male perspective. Let's face it, there are lots of books written for women on the subject and this is probably the only one I have ever seen written for men by a man. Women will enjoy reading too b/c I think it gives some insider perspective as to how a man views having a baby.
